Ideas for works on paper usually occur in two ways. Firstly as an idea for a carving or a piece of modelling. Secondly it might be a progression from a previous piece of sculpture, or something entirely new, prompted by a form, texture or image. Sometimes I am impressed by the movement of an animal, the gesture or physique of a person, or a view, or a piece of architecture.
